Madison
Georgia and Blue Willow Inn
Well another fashion Adventure I went with
my Parents. This Adventure was in
Madison Georgia a beautiful historical town where many movies were filmed
such as My Cousin Vinny, Road Trip and Jack Black’s Movie Goose Bumps. The
historical significance of Madison Georgia is that on General Sherman’s “March to the Sea” he was met by
Senator Joshua Hill reminding of the Gentlemen’s agreement. Apparently Mr. Hill
attended West Point with General Sherman’s brother therefore Madison was spared. The main features is the Morgan Court House in
a Beaux Arts Design (the interior court house seen My cousin Vinny), the
beautiful Old Homes and great lunch area is a buffet style at Adrian’s Place on 706 West Washington
Street. Tell the Dana sent you.
Also not far from here is Social Circle Georgia where the Blue Willow Inn Restaurant is located a
buffet style restaurant and wonderful shopping. The Blue Willow Inn was
frequented by Gone with the Wind
writer Margaret Mitchell. This is where she was courted by Redd Upshaw. Redd
was the the brother-in-law to Bertha Upshaw the owner of the Blue Willow Inn. Redd was Margaret Mitchell’s first husband and the inspiration
for Rhett Butler. (Clark Gabel in Gone
with the Wind). The Inn is located at
294 N. Cherokee Rd.
