DISCOVERED AND UNDISCOVERED TALENT IN THE ELECTRIC CITY (Anderson SC)

Hi Fashion Loves,

Today is a blistering hot day in the south so my outfit has to be cool.  I have chosen this cute pink and white girly dress from NY&Company and my precious pink heel from Persunmall.  I just feel so Girly in this precious dress and just thought my pearl belt from Cato just made it pop.  I love this belt, is so similar to the Chanel Accessories which I wish I could afford but is not in the cards now.  However I think if I could afford it I would still shop at my favorite stores such as NY&Company, Cato and JcPenney.  These stores have such amazing finds and their clothing last forever.

My Forever 21 Blazer is just perfect for a business look or  when you go to a cold restaurant on a hot day.

Anderson might be a small town but it has a lot of undiscovered talent. 

Just to name a few:

1. Me (Dana Evans) a magnificent Artistic Renderer, Fashionista, Fashion Blogger and Extra in the movie “Leatherheads” Go to the DVD deleted scenes the train scene and I am staring right at the camera.
2.  Brandon Gilliard at btgill.com a bass play who is traveling the world and has been seen on the Todays Show and many other shows working with many talented well-known artists such as Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu and P. Diddy just to name a few.
3. William Church Whitner who discovered the long distance transmission of electric energy and influenced the Charleston News and Courier to name Anderson The Electric City
4. Dr. P A Whilhite a local Physician in Anderson SC who discovered Anesthesia Ether
5. Chadwick Boseman who played James Brown in the Movie “Get on Up” and Jackie Robinson in “42”. Chadwick is from Anderson and graduated from my high school TL Hanna.  His mother and aunt shop where I work and are the sweetest ladies you ever met.
6. Jill Strickland at jillstricklandart.com an amazing artist famous for her Charleston Paintings and very helpful to artists and photographers in picking out the perfect frame and matte to show off your work.
7. Radio a local celebrity in the movie titled “Radio” he also went to my High School mentored by Coach Harold Jones.
8. Cameran Eubanks celebrity from Anderson SC who also graduated from TL Hanna in 2001.  Famous for The Real World: San Diego and most recently Southern Charm on Bravo TV.

The destination for this outfit is Generator Park corner of South McDuffie and East Whitner which is a  1,000 Square foot park featuring a centuries old generator which produced Hydroelectric power for the Portman Shoals Power Plant allowing Anderson to become the Electric City (courtesy of downtownanderson.com/public-art.pdf).

 This discovery was made by William Church Whitner whom all expected to fail.  His success allowed the first city to develop a hydroelectric facility to generate high voltage power without step-transformers in the nation and perhaps the world.  The generator served the water system, street lights, local homes and this was the location of the first Cotton Mill to be operated on electricity transmitted over long distant lines.

So Fashion Loves keep in mind there is talent all around you, it just takes God’s Intervention to get us discovered.  We just have to be patient and keep going until that day arrives.
